This painting is based on a composite of images. The truck is one that I saw on an inner city street in downtown Calgary but clearly belonged in a rural setting, the grain elevators are based on ones in my old home province of Manitoba, and the cloud formation is similar to ones we see on a regular basis over St. George’s Bay in Nova Scotia. The combination of the big sky, old grain elevators, and a vintage truck are “classic” prairies and are why this one is called “Prairie Classics”.
